More catching up. This time my fictional AWI battle of Old Point Comfort. An excuse to get lots of troops, ships and a fort onto one table in a vaguely plausible manner.
The scenario saw a Franco-American force attempting to repel an amphibious landing by the British.
I scratch-built the fort.
We even won the award for best game :-)

Absolutely stunning Steve! I really need to put more focus back on my own AWI and this is for sure inspiration to do so!
ReplyDeleteA very nice depiction of the American Revolutionary War. I believe I recognized the Lauzun Hussar Regiment among the French units. Regarding the hussars armed with lances, it appears their plume was red. Other sources mention a simple pennant.

At a time when the President of the United States is questioning Europe's willingness to come to the aid of the Americans, could you remind him that the only time Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was invoked was after September 11, 2001, to support the Americans in Afghanistan? Fifty-two of my comrades died there, while he didn't even complete his military service!
DeleteCould you also tell him that France was America's eldest ally, even before it gained its independence? One of my colleagues on the general staff was a descendant of the Count of Vergennes, who signed a trade treaty with Benjamin Franklin, effectively recognizing the United States of America before it even achieved independence.
Pershing in 1917 and Eisonhover in 1944 came to France just as Lafayette and Rochambeau had gone to America. Today I have only one question:
WHERE IS AMERICA ?
Spectacular Steve and your collection remains an inspiration you must have taken a pretty full car to the show !
