Knight Banner WIP

The main banner for my knights. Still needs folding, shading and highlighting but I'm pleased with the freehand so far.

Knights WIP update

Still a way to go, not least a couple of banners, but most of the painting on the figures is done. The leader's sword needs work and there are highlights to do all round.
Not sure whether to add dust and mud splatters at a later stage.

Knights WIP

Here are five of the six knights needed for a Lion Rampant unit. They are Gripping Beast castings recycled from my abandoned crusades project and they fit well for the reign of King John. This achieves a number of aims: keeping down costs, finding a medieval army with the "look" I wanted with lots of heater shields and allowing a welsh element to any expansion as Llewelyn the Great was active at this time.
The knights are painted in the colours of Northampton RFC so expect to see dastardly enemies in the livery of Leicester in the future. I hope to get all six of these finished this week then to make a start on some infantry.

Irregular gathering

Today James, Martin, Dave, Matt and myself got together in Newark and played a big game of Hail Caesar. We brought along all of our late republican roman figures and played a scenario based loosely on Thapsus. We played to an honourable draw in around 4 hours.
